Scouting in South Weber

The new Scout district had me on the short list to help get a troop going in South Weber.  They chose Gaylen Nielson and he asked me to join him in organizing a troop.   Looking forward to carrying on the tradition of Scouting in South Weber.

Grand Teton Trade-o-ree

Took Friday off and took the wife up to Idaho Falls.  Stopped by the temple, had a lunch at a nice Mexican place across from the falls then headed to the Scout office.  Loaded up the freight elevator after John Burns took his load up.  Sat up 4 tables against the wall and displayed several frames, knives, etc.  Not very many visitors this year and traders were low in numbers.  Traded for a few LDS patches and bolo ties and was gone 9:15.  Wiatt took some pictures of the TOR after I left as I forgot to take some pictures.

Here's what I displayed:
LDS 100 Years of Scouting CSP's frame
Lone Scout frame
Square Merit Badge frame
Hintermeister Scout Law frame
Franklin Mint Rockwell knife collection
4 Syroco Scout Law trinket boxes
Air Scout frame
Explorer Scout frame
Varsity Scout frame
Merit badge books, squares, Air Scout and Centennial versions.
Scout Law cards hanging from ceiling
A couple pictures
50th Anniversary gold patches

G & W Museum Blooming Illinois

I had the opportunity to visit Wilbur Wilmington and his wife at their home in Bloomington Illinois  and see their wonderful Scouting memorabilia.  What an amazing collection of Scouting items they have and I wish I lived next door to enjoy what they've put together over the last 30 years.

Orem Trade-O-Ree February

Well, I headed down to the TOR with mixed feelings, thinking this may be last last time it will be held in the Orem Scout Office, with the eventual shutting down of LDS Scouting in Utah.  My efforts to show the heritage of Scouting at events didn't make much difference.

Wiatt was selling strong and good to have him there.  I spent some time with Jerry from Hurrican Utah.  I bought some square knots from him and fully enjoyed discussing Scouting with him.  He has a rich history and some amazing woodwork of hiking sticks shown below.  He also has some amazing OA patch display and a Scout area in his estate that I would love to see if traveling south.

I bought a couple pins from Steve and saw the uniform I bid on a couple months ago.  He had it for +$800 and I wasn't even in the game.  Steve always seems to get the great things I'm after.

I stayed until 10 then decided to head home.  For some reason I just wasn't up to coming back for the auctions and spending money.  I asked Wiatt to bid a on few things that he wasn't interested in and he got me 3 things - he's so kind and a great friend.

Boy Rangers of America - Very Rare!

Steve bought this pocket patch of the Boy Rangers of America last year.

Wiatt has something for everyone when it comes to patches!

I only brought a few patch displays this year which is more than I brought last year.
Jerry from Huricane Utah had an amazing walking stick and he's done several.

Scouts BSA - New Handbook in 2 versions It's a FIRST

Stopped at the Scout store and picked up the 3rd sold copy of the new handbook, not just for Boys!  The contents will be the same as the boys version coming out later this year with pictures of girls and ladies performing activities and such.
