Scouting

 8/21/22 Update

Well, Scouting has pretty much come to an end in our family.  There appears no interest for the remaining 5 grandsons and the grand daughters haven't a chance if the boys don't.  Displaying Scout memorabilia appears to be dead in our council as well.  I'll be attending the TOR in October and seriously putting stuff up for sale.

Cole and Scouting

Cole has always loved Scouting and has a shirt that he wears.  Here he is looking at my knife collection.  We occasionally have some Scouting fun.  Looks like I was getting ready for the TOR which was held Friday night.  I went and had a couple tables and sold a 5 1/2" copper statue.  I didn't attend the Saturday auction.

Orem Trade-o-ree

Arrived at 6 pm for the TOR and set up a few items on a couple tables.  Had a few visitors really like the square merit badge collection.  Bought 3 LDS patches and 2 boxes for jewel inserts.

Here's my simple display this year.

Eagle Court of Honor for several Scouts in Kaysville

Displayed uniforms and patches at event this week.  This may be my very last display in an LDS church.  Sad day...

Scouting in South Weber

The new Scout district had me on the short list to help get a troop going in South Weber.  They chose Gaylen Nielson and he asked me to join him in organizing a troop.   Looking forward to carrying on the tradition of Scouting in South Weber.

Grand Teton Trade-o-ree

Took Friday off and took the wife up to Idaho Falls.  Stopped by the temple, had a lunch at a nice Mexican place across from the falls then headed to the Scout office.  Loaded up the freight elevator after John Burns took his load up.  Sat up 4 tables against the wall and displayed several frames, knives, etc.  Not very many visitors this year and traders were low in numbers.  Traded for a few LDS patches and bolo ties and was gone 9:15.  Wiatt took some pictures of the TOR after I left as I forgot to take some pictures.

Here's what I displayed:
LDS 100 Years of Scouting CSP's frame
Lone Scout frame
Square Merit Badge frame
Hintermeister Scout Law frame
Franklin Mint Rockwell knife collection
4 Syroco Scout Law trinket boxes
Air Scout frame
Explorer Scout frame
Varsity Scout frame
Merit badge books, squares, Air Scout and Centennial versions.
Scout Law cards hanging from ceiling
A couple pictures
50th Anniversary gold patches

G & W Museum Blooming Illinois

I had the opportunity to visit Wilbur Wilmington and his wife at their home in Bloomington Illinois  and see their wonderful Scouting memorabilia.  What an amazing collection of Scouting items they have and I wish I lived next door to enjoy what they've put together over the last 30 years.
